When I first saw the genre “rock/metal/progressive,” knowing it was solely instrumental,
I was unsure of the journey that I was about to embark upon.
However, I was pleasantly surprised by Avishay Mizrav of Rishon Le Zion,
Israel who truly knows how to put this all together and have the music come alive.
His passion seems to just bleed right out of the guitar and stand out in every song.

Avishay Mizrav’s debut album, Forgotten Melodies, is a whirlwind of rock and power ballads that remind you of bands such as Journey or Styx, but in a way that doesn’t need words to tell the story. “Knight Templar” hits you with strong and powerful notes and is one of those songs that when you start listening to it, you cannot help but want to throw your hand up and wave the rock symbol while nodding your head. The softer more intricate “Mood” shows the broad range his music can have.  Then you take a turn on “Radical Emotions,” which is my personal favorite, and see a different side of what Mizrav is musically capable of. Some would say that he is bringing a new light to instrumental music and showing that a song can really express emotion and even a story without having to be sung.

Whether you are looking for a song that you can jam to in the car like “Knight Templar,” something a little softer like “Moods,” or just something in between, like “The Life and Death of Elfi Theda,” you will find what you are looking for on this album.

Each song piques your curiosity for what is to come, and leaves you wanting more. The different ranges and strengths that are in each song truly show his passion and dedication that he has had since he was 8 years old and just picking up a guitar for the first time. I am looking forward to seeing what Avishay Mizrav has in store next and being able to listen to his talents. He makes music in a way that is something that I have not heard before

This album is an absolute gem of progressive rock and metal fusion. The opener 'Knight Templar' demands all your attention and systematically melts your face off.
Mizrav's sound is slightly reminiscent of Mars Volta - in a good way.
The album has a very tasteful blend of melodic songs like 'Stormy Night' and slightly harder tunes.
'Casualties of War' pulls you into a musical journey, wrenching at the fabric of your existence.
'These Harmonies' concludes the album, wrapping it all together in an especially great way.
Mizrav's guitar really shines throughout the album.
The technique is flawless, I cannot recommend this album enough.

This is incredible listening from the 'Driving' opener Knight Templar, the album leads into the melodic Elfi Theda and Radical Emotions before taking you to the easy listening 'Moods' (which has great instrumentation).
The Journey to the End of the World sounds like it was done in minors to add to the overall feeling.
My favorite track is 'Forgotten Melodies' definitely one for listening in the car!
Casualties of War has an obvious storyline that you can 'feel' from the song itself.
Stormy Night chills it all down whilst you should look out for the hidden bit at the end of 'These Harmonies' which raps up the album.
This is superior music for fans of fantastic solos and melodies.
Can't rate it highly enough!

Simply put "Forgotten Melodies" by Avishay Mizrav is unforgettable.
He takes you on a musical journey that is technically phenomenal, but he still makes you FEEL the music.
If you like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, this album is right up your alley.

Whether it's a driving, in your face tune like "Knight Templar" that demands a head nod from musical enjoyment or a serene yet colorful song like "Stormy Night" that melodically brings you to an inner peace;
this is an album that you can leave on and not spend time skipping tracks.

But if I have to pick a favorite, I would say "Radical Emotions" is my favorite.
I can't put my finger on what it is... sometimes a song just speaks to you.

Anyway, this is DEFINITELY worth $8. Great music through and through.

Forgotten Melodies is an incredible album.
Every song has its own feel - from the moving piece of Casualties of War with such amazing build ups to upbeat songs like Knight Templar. Awesome rock.

The guitar melodies on this album are absolutely incredible!
If you really want to hear a guitar sing, you need to have this album.
Personally, I love the sound of Moods.. the solo at the end is so nice.
Overall, very impressed with the whole album.

I have to say that the lead guitar on this album blows me away.
Flying melodies that are insane. Refreshing to hear pure solid talent in the music.

Seriously- the guitar is insane in this album!
